After a good night’s rest at your Dorset holiday cottage, you can take a short drive to the Sherborne Golf Club. The Sherborne Golf Club was started back in 1894. The golf course is located in one of the most peaceful places on the Somerset/Dorset border. The Sherborne Golf Club has been a great place to enjoy a game of golf for over hundred years. Playing at this amazing golf course is enough to leave you winded. Apart from its challenging courses, the scenery is absolutely stunning. This beautiful scenery helps in getting golfers to relax and enjoy the game no matter how difficult the game may have become. In the end, the effort will be worth. If you want to play at this golf course, you will need to contact the office and make arrangements. The course is open daily except on Thursday mornings. Dress codes apply, so it is better to leave your holiday cottage well prepared.

Sherborne Castle

Sherborne Castle has a history that dates back to the 12th Century. Built by Roger Bishop of Salisbury, the castle served as part of his diocese. If you are staying at one of the luxurious Dorset holiday cottages, you can take a day-trip and explore this ancient castle. In 1592 the castle was acquired by Sir Walter Raleigh, he went on to build a new house in the deer park. In 1617 the castle had four wings added to it by the diplomat Sir John Digby, thereby giving it a square look. In the year 1969 the castle was opened to the public and has since attracted visitors from all over the world. Though it is open to the public, Sherborne Castle still belongs to the Wingfield Digby family. After visiting this castle you can return to the comfort of your holiday cottage.
