A Memorable Day in Devon

If you are treating your family to an island getaway in Devon, you should get accommodations at the Devon holiday cottages. The self-catering holiday cottages are much better than hotels because you have plenty of options at a price you cannot resist. You can choose to stay near the beach or have a holiday cottage overlooking a historic site. Enjoy your island getaway to the fullest as you visit beaches and amusement parks, take a walk down the cobbled streets, taste the culinary expertise of the island, and have some retail therapy at shopping complexes. The beauty and wonders of the county will soothe your frayed nerves and will revitalize your senses. For a memorable day in Devon, visit the Lynton Lynmouth Cliff Railway.

Lynton Lynmouth Cliff Railway

The Lynton Lynmouth Cliff Railway is in close proximity to most holiday cottages. The train ride will take you to a fascinating journey between two picturesque towns of Lynmouth and Lynton. The Cliff Railway is well-known across the globe. Appreciate the beauty of the North Devon coast as you embark on a trip across the 862-feet long track. The town of Lynmouth is at the foot of the cliffs and you will have to go way up the town of Lynton which is 500 feet above ground level.

Operations

There is a unique way that the train is being operated. While still docked at the stations, the water tanks equipped to the trains are filled to the brim. One car can be found at Lynmouth and the other is at Lynton. The cars are ready to be boarded when the water tanks are already filled up. The drivers at the upper car release the brakes and the driver of the lower car begins to discharge the water as soon as both the cars are loaded with passengers. Because of this, there is a reversal of positioning. The lower car goes up the line because it became lighter and the upper car moves down at the same time. One car comes down to Lynmouth while the other car goes up to Lynton.

Eco Friendly

It is such an amazing way to minimize carbon imprint and entertain visitors on a train ride. Water is taken from the river and no pollution of any sort is being done for all the trips which just make this attraction even more unique and cool. The lifts work in such a way that the water released is not used again. There is no need to pump the water to the top again. Schedule a trip here during your stay at the holiday cottages in Devon so you can learn more about this amazing technique.

Facilities

Ample car parking facilities as well as clean restrooms can be found at both Lynmouth and Lynton. The award winning “Cliff Top Cafe” at the top serves homemade hot and cold items. Order some extra so you can take it back to the holiday cottages at the end of the day.
